Fred started his career in the Dutch Marines at the end of WW 2 . He lived in Friesland when he signed up to the Dutch Marine Corps, got loaded on a bus and ended up in a highschool in Breda. Here he exchanched clothes for Marine uniforms and had a hair trim to become a Marine. Next day he went to Camp Tophat just outside Antwerpen to start basic training. He was ment to be send to the US - Camp Lejeune NC as soon as here was a ship available, and next to Dutch Indonesia to fight to free the East. On the day of his embarkation he was giving a three weeks leave becouse his father was arrested by the German SS . His father spent 2,5 years in prison (NN) A book titled "Kappie Marie"was written about his father who was credited with saving the lives of over 100 pilots during the war.
So after the three weeks leave Fred returned to Breda and from there to Doorn and Amsterdam where his request was granted to become a MP. From Amsterdam he went to The Hague and his last three day in the Dutch Marines Fred spent at the (then) new van Ghent Kazerne in Rotterdam. Fred went to the US later and now lives ( allready 50 years) in Mansfield Texas USA. QPO/SEMPER FI WELCOME ABOARD FRED.
